A house concert is a live music experience hosted in a home, apartment, or community space — instead of a typical public venue like a bar, club or coffee house.
No noisy crowds, no TVs — just a small gathering of people sharing an evening of music, story, and connection.
This isn’t just a setlist of songs. It’s a one-man show — a blend of original music, storytelling, and character moments drawn from my years in both music and theatre.
Every song is introduced with a personal story or reflection, giving you a window into the journey behind the lyrics.
This isn’t background music. It’s a sit-down, unplug-from-the-world experience, more like a listening room than a party.
Guests are encouraged to settle in, really hear the music, and connect with the stories behind the songs.
Connection
House concerts create a kind of intimacy most venues can’t offer. There’s no stage, no spotlight — just honest stories and real songs shared up close.
A Night to Remember
Whether it’s friends, neighbors, or coworkers, you’re offering your community a rare kind of experience — something meaningful, surprising, and memorable.
Support The Arts
House concerts are a clear and direct way for hosts/guests to support independent original music. You’re helping artists like me continue doing what we love.
Typically, guests will arrive 30-60 minutes before the show begins. This gives people a chance to mingle and socialize.
Some hosts provide snacks and drinks while others prefer to do things potluck-style.
At “show time” everyone settles down on chairs, couches or pillows and the music begins.
The show will last 50 – 60 minutes. Afterwards there is some more mingling before the evening is concluded.
You don’t need a mansion — just enough room for a handful of people to sit comfortably and enjoy the show.
Most house concerts happen in:
Living rooms
Finished basements
Backyards or patios (weather permitting)
Community rooms in apartment buildings
All you need is:
A space that can fit 15–30 people (more or less is totally fine)
Some chairs, couches, or even floor pillows (guests can bring extras)
That’s it! If your space can hold a game night, it can probably host a show.
House concerts typically run on a donation-based model. Guests are encouraged to contribute a suggested donation of $20 per person, with 100% going directly to support the artist.
This should be collected by the hosts prior to the show. Some collect donations at the door, others include a Venmo or PayPal link when inviting guests.
Whatever feels easiest — the goal is to keep it simple, comfortable, and clear from the start.
That said, I like to keep everything on a sliding scale, which means no one will be turned away due to lack of funds (trust me...I’ve been there).
I believe music — and art in general — should be accessible to everyone, and those who can contribute will.
